Why Work With Me?

Headshot of Barbara with red flower in hair, smiling.

I am Barbara Boyle, a NAMACB certified Ayurvedic Practitioner and Yoga Therapist (see Credentials & Training below), with a specialization in women’s health. I have a deep personal understanding of what it is like to live life for decades with chronic health issues that western medicine was unable to heal, and the determination and self-compassion to not give up on myself when nothing else helped. I bring my years of personal experience with me when I work with clients, to be supportive of others who are navigating their own chronic health ailments with a desire to heal.

I am a perpetual learner, one who will always be diving in to deepen my understanding of the vast wealth of wisdom about how to live a healthier, more easeful, and joyful life. In June 2024, I started a 4 year Ayurvedic Doctor program to specialize more deeply in the Ayurvedic approach to women’s health and pediatrics. This program will take me to India for 6 weeks each year for the 4 years to work closely with Ayurvedic Doctors in clinical internships at Gomantak Ayurvedic Hospital and College in Goa, India, and other Ayurvedic clinics and hospitals across India.

In 2018, I had my daughter, Juno, who is another great teacher in my life. She is teaching me more deeply about the power of connection, of slowing down, being attuned, and having patience. Through my role as a mama, I am learning when to double-down and when to loosen up or let go. She is teaching me how to practice Yoga and Ayurveda as a parent, to keep myself healthy even with limited time and energy, so I can be more present for her, and to guide her in understanding how to live a healthy and joyful life from the start. I am able to support you in finding ways to integrate Ayurveda and Yoga into your life, even with young children and life obstacles. I am very excited to soon be expanding my Ayurveda practice to include working with children.

My History

I started practicing yoga in 1997 on a quest of healing from injuries sustained in a car accident and a childhood full of sports. After studying various styles of yoga, qigong, pilates, and other modalities for 15 years, I found spinal release yoga with Kaya Mindlin in 2012. Within weeks of working with Kaya, I began to heal from chronic injuries and ailments that years of other modalities had not been able to touch.

Shortly after, I received a diagnosis of Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, an autoimmune hypothyroid condition, and I began learning about and integrating an Ayurvedic diet and routine into my life. I found that the two sister sciences worked beautifully hand-in-hand; when I would plateau in my healing with one, I would lean more into the other, which would keep propelling my healing forward.

As a result of the deep healing I have experienced from these practices in all aspects of life, in 2015 I began a decade-long journey of intensive study in Contemplative Practice Yoga®, Supreme Release Yoga, and Ayurveda to deepen my own practice as well as to be able to share this profound wisdom with others. I wholeheartedly continue my lifelong study and learning guided by my gifted teachers. My primary teachers have included Victor Briere, A.D., Kaya Mindlin, and Kim Orr. I have also studied with renowned Ayurvedic Doctors such as Vasant Lad, Neelesh Korde, Sumod Khedekar, Suhas Kshirsagar, Manisha Kshirsagar, Nandan Lele, and Rucha Kelkar.

In 2022, I began a transition away from a wonderful 20-year career at National Writing Project, an education nonprofit, where I served as Director, Grants & Contracts, to more fully step into this healing work. I created Chandani Ayurveda to share these practices with those who seek to live healthier, happier, more fulfilled, and balanced lives. (Read about the meaning behind Chandani Ayurveda on my first blog post.) I look forward to working with you!
